Rumpless Araucana are lovely, friendly birds, they are naturally inquisitive and like to be around people, however, they should not be put with delicate bantams. They are happy free roaming foragers and very robust. They come in many colours and lay stunning blue/green tinted eggs. We have both the tufted and non tufted varieties and sometimes even one tufted… Lovely hens and good layers up to 180 eggs a year.

Araucanas are great characters, they are a very friendly breed and generally the cocks are not aggressive, they are crested with earmuffs and beards and are active and alert. Rumpless Araucanas are very timid, shy chickens, but with regular handling, they can become tamer, they can also be quite inquisitive however and follow you around the garden.
They are great fliers so their wings will have to be clipped or they need to be kept in a fully enclosed run.
The Rumpless Araucana originates from the Araucia Indians of Northern Chile. There are two distinct breeds; the Rumpless Araucana and the Araucana.
