Bantam Marans are derived from the original French large breed. At Pipinchick Poultry we have 3 colours, with their lovely markings and high straight tail feathers they are quite stunning. Bantam Marans are really fun little birds, they have a big bird personality in a small frame which makes them seriously entertaining! This feisty outlook makes them ideal in flocks of bigger birds, but they mix equally as well with most bantams, they are not suited with all other bantams so make sure to check with the Pipinchick buying guide.
The Bantam Marans is very easy to look after, they are a hardy bantam chicken and require little to no extra care, unlike most batman hens who need a more specialised environment. They are happy free roaming in open spaces or just as content chickening about in a smaller garden. They can fly so be careful with low fenced enclosures.
The large breed Marans chicken was one of the last breeds to be introduced to the UK. Now it has been re-bred to offer a smaller, compact Bantam variety that lays cream, brown tinted eggs and up to 150 per year.
