Dust baths are absolutely essential for helping keep mites and pests at bay and they also allow your hen to express her natural behaviour, making them happier and healthier all round.
Sand is the main base ingredient for any good dust bath, our kiln dried sand is particularly good as it’s very fine and having been kiln dried has no residual moisture.
The tiny grains of sand along with a good DE powder will kill lice and mites by abrasion, the grains are so small they are harmless to the chickens but to mites and lice they are like tiny shards of glass.
